OBITUARY.
MR F. WILDING, K.C. (P.A.) CHRISTCHURCH, July 5. Mr Frederick Wilding, New Zealand’s senior King’s Counsel, is dead. He had a record of more than 60 years’ legal practice, commencing in Christchurch in 1880. Born in Montgomeryshire, Wales, Mr Wilding was educated at Shrewsbury* School. He was one of the best all-round athletes in Herefordshire, which he represented at cricket, and played Rugby for West of England whir conspicuous success. He was a first-class oarsman, sprinter and tennis player. Admitted a barrister in 1874, he came to New Zealand six years later and practised law in Christ church, i He was made a Kings Counsel in 1923. He played tennis with great success, being (with K. vv • Harman) five times doubles champion of New Zealand. In 1906 he partnered his son, Anthony Wilding, m doubles at Prague. He was president ol the Canterbury Cricket Association tor some years till 1923. He is survived by two sons ancl one daughter.
