SAVAGE CLUB.
SECOND KORERO OF SEASON Eight members were initiated at the second korero of the Ashburton Savage Club, and Ex-Great Chief R. Jeffs was installed as presiding Chief by Great Chief A. C. Wilson. Three old members were welcomed by the Tohunga, Ex-Great Chief J. H. Browne. A presentation of a framed photo of last year’? Council was made to ExGreat Chief J. W. P. Dyer. A talk, “Chasing Rommel from El Alamein to Tunis,” was given by Sergeant-Major S. Duncan. Items included songs by Messrs B. Harvey and C.E. Hopwood, a saxophone solo by Savage R. Williams, sketches by Savages C. Kemble and S. Blank, a piano-accoidion solo by Savage C. Hanson and a selection by the orchestra.
