THE WEATHER.
FINE AND SUNNY TO-DAY. Although the sky clouded over yesterday afternoon, and there was a light shower about 3.30 p.m., conditions this morning had cleared, the sun shining pleasantly from a fairly j clear sky. There was a light northerly ! breeze, after a frost of 1.9 degrees. The maximum and minimum temperatures yesterday were 52.1 and 36.8 degrees, compared with 47.1 and 36.1 on Tuesday. The barometer to-day registered 29.61 inches, against 29.57 yesterday. TO-DAY’S FORECAST. (P.A.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The Government Meteorologist, at noon to-day, issued the following statement regarding the weather: — General situation: An extensive an-ti-cyclone is centred over South-east-ern Australia. Pressure is low southeast of the Dominion. The forecast for the east coast of the South Island from Blenheim to Oamaru to 5 p.m. to-morrow is as follows: South-westerly winds, strong about Banks Peninsula, but decreasing generally; some showers at first near Akaroa, but weather otherwise fair to fine. Temperatures cold, with sharp frosts. Further outlook: Fair to fine.
