DID NOT RESIGN.
FORMER FRENCH PRESIDENT. (Rec. 9.30 a.m.), LONDON, May 29. M. Lebrun, former President of the - French Republic declared that he never tendered his resignation to the Bordeaux Government when France collapsed in 1940, to the newspaper “Franco Libre.” M. Lebrun said: “I was always a faithful servant of the constitution and would have considered obedience to Laval’s orders as an act of desertion. I was spirited off by Marshal retain.” M. Lebrun has beeii in Pdris four days but lie has not resumed hys occupation of the President’s residence. The Gestapo arrested and interned him in the Bavarian Tyrol in , August, 1943, and lie was repatriated shortly after on the grounds of illhealth.
