FATAL HURRICANE.

GREAT DAMAGE IN AMERICA. (Rec. 10.30.) NEW YORK, Sept. 15. A 100 mile-an-hour hurricane, accompanied by lashing rain, roaring up the Atlantic coast'from Cape Hatteras, struck the New York area last night and continued north-east through New England. The hurricane caused millions of dollars worth of damage, particularly in Atlantic City, the famous resort on the New Jersey coast, where thousands of roofs were blown off. One small hotel collapsed. Many persons were rendered homeless asi high seas left water waistdeep in the centre of the city. New York city escaped the full fury of the storm. The disturbance in the New York area, subsided quickly. The death-roll is 11, and 50 were injured. THE WORST ON RECORD. INJURED REPORTED AS 150. (Rec. 11.15.) NEW YORK, Sept. 15. _ The damage caused by the hurricane is estimated at nearly £10,000,000. At least 11 were killed and 150 injured. The Weather Bureau says' that the hurricane, which swept nearly 1000 miles of the Atlantic coast, was the worst on record. In New .York city, seven persons were electrocuted by exposed ivires.
