NIGHT IN THE OPEN.
PLIGHT OF DEERSTALKERS. Three lads who left Ashburton on Saturday morning to go deer stalking in the Ragaia Gorge caused their parents anxious concern when they had not returned by midnight last night. The boys—Lewis Beatty, of Ashburton, Allan Craig, of Temuka, and Warren Hart, also a visitor —left their truck ifii.the gorge while they went intQ the hills, and when they returned the battery was flat and the engine refused to start.
It was not till late this morning that the anxious parents received word that the bovs were safe. After a long climb the latls arrived at the homestead of Mr J. R. Todhunter, of Lake Heron. Cold arid hungry but very glad to have reached civilisation again, they were none the worse for their experience. -
