OBITUARY.
REV. DR. THEODORE PATERSON. (P.A.) DUNEDIN, April 2. The Rev. Dr. Theodore Paterson, minister of St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church, Oamaru, died hero on Saturday night. He became ill while playing tennis in the afternoon and died a few hours after admission to hospital. Dr. Paterson was well known in Canterbury for his brilliant academic career, and for his interest in several sports. He was born in New South Wales 44 years ago.
After graduating Master of Arts with first-class honours in philosophy and Bachelor of Divinity (Melbourne) he was for 15 years in charge of the Halkett parish, going to Oamaru in 1 !),'{}>. He gained his degree of Doctor of Theology from the University of California.
Dr. Paterson was a keen tennis player, and as a country referee and selector he did much to improve the standard of Rugby in the Malvern Rugby Sub-Union. Dr. Paterson leaves a widow and four young children.
