/ASHBURTON CLUB'S OPENING. COMPETITORS FROM TIMARU. The Ashburton Amateur Athletic Club will hold its opening meeting at the Domain on Saturday. Good fields are expected in all events, as in addition to local athletes there will be a number of competitors, from the South ' Canterbury Amateur Athletic Club. Following are the numbers of visiting athletes in each event:— Men’s events (over 16): 100 yards, 3; 220, 4; 440, 6; 880, 8; mile, 6; shot putt, 2; discus, 2; javelin, 3. Boys’ events (under 16): 100 yards, 3; 220, 3; 440/4; 880, 5; mile, 5; shot putt, 3; discus, 2. Women’s events: 75 and 100 yards, 11; shot putt, 5; discus, 5. Girls’ events (under 16): 75 and 100 yards, 6.
