NATIONAL SAVINGS.
SUM OF £124 IN HAND. A number of business men were present by invitation at a meeting of the Ashburton National Savings Committee last evening. Five business men were elected to the committee, with a view to increasing the number and helping to raise the quota. It was decided to enlist the services of the Mid-Canterbury Co-opera-tive Dairy Company with a view to giving its suppliers an opportunity to contribute to the National Savings. Up till last evening £124 -were in hand toward the current -week's quota.
A business meeting of group collectors will be held to-morrow week.
