SAVAGE MAN-HUNT.
GERMAN ACTION IN WARSAW. MASS ARRESTS REPORTED. (Rec. 10.30 a.m.) LONDON, Oct. 17. The Polish Government in London received to-day from its delegate in Poland an alarming report about a man-hunt carried out at Warsaw on Wednesday. At 9 a.m. lorries with escorts suddenly appeared and drew a cordov round the whole block of streets and proceeded to carry out the most savage man-hunt. They seized everybody. Those who tried to escape were shot at. Mass arrests and searches followed during the night into Thursday. On Saturday the street raids started again and shots were heard. It is impossible to estimate the number arrested, but is must be more than 5000. Their fate is not known. —British Official Wireless.
