The Dunedin Jockey Club was favoured with ideal conditions for its spring meeting at Wingatui to-day, and there was a large attendance. The course was heavy, and although it improved during the afternoon, times were very slow. The sum of £44,175 was handled, against £36,333 10s on the corresponding day last year, an increase of £.7841 10s. Concluding results: Telegraph Handicap, of £350; six furlongs—6-8 Night Lancer 7.7 (N. Crombie) 1, 4-3 Silver Sox 7.7 2, 5-7 Hearth 5.13 3. Won by half a length, four lengths.- Time, 1.22. The totalisator handled £161,439 10s compared with £97,658 10s last year, an increase of £63,781. The top-weight, Lord Chancellor, put up a sterling performance in winning the Mitchelson Cup. Atatu surprised by defeating Balfron in the Great Northern Guineas comfortably.
