THE GOVERNMENT’S PLAN. (P.A.) NAPIER, August 25. An approved plan for doubling hydro-electric power construction within six years, and doubling that figure again by the end of 10 years, was referred to by the Minister of Finance (the Hon. W. Nash) when opening the Power Supply Authorities’ conference. Emphasising the necessity of finding ,a. way to get more power in the quick-, est time, Mr Nash said that lie did not mind if the task was completed in half that time. Any progress depended exclusively on equipment and manpower. The Government would give priority for the necessary electrical equipment, but the main priorities were from England and America. Mr Nash pointed out that first-class manpower was required for hydro projects, but was also wanted for the Army, and added that every avenue should he exploited to increase the quantity of electricity. He also supported the appointment of a delegation to go overseas on the subject of equipment.
