SALE OF JEWELS.
LONDON. In a sale of jewels totalling £16,919 at Christie's, a. diamond tiara, composed of eight graduated scroll and foliage clusters, separated by diamond foliage uprights, brought £2250, the top price of the session. The second highest price of the sale, £llBO, was given for a fine circular-cut diamond, mounted as <a. ring, with diamond shoulders on an engraved platinum hoop. A sale of pictures at Sotheby’s included a small monochrome sketch in oils, “St. George on horseback attacking the Dragon,” by Rubens, which changed hands at- £530; another sketch, also in oils, “The Martyrdom of St. Sebastian,” by Van Dyck, £285; “Tho Adoration of the Magi,” by an artist of the Antwerp school, circa 1500, £150; and a flower piece, by J. Dreehsler, 1806, £IOO. The day’s total was £2942.
