DAMAGING FIRE.
CHAIR FACTORY AT DUNEDIN. (P.A.) DUNEDIN, This Day. Damage estimated at between £2OOO and £3OOO resulted when fives occurred last evening in the Butterfield Chair Factory, Cumberland Street. The outbreak was apparently caused by a spark from an open fireplace. Most of the damage was done in a storeroom where tins of oil and varnish hurst. Among the goods, which were extensively damaged by water and difficult to replace, were mirrors, boxes of nails, screws and hinges. The destruction of an electrical switchboard cut off power temporarily in the area, which includes a hospital block.
