ALLOWANCE SOUGHT.
CLAiM FOR ACCIDENT IN 1904. AVELLINGTON, June 23. A petition for favourable consideration for the allotment of a compassionate allowance to recompense him for loss in wages and superannuation and disability, arising from an accident in. the Christchurch railway yard in 1904, was presented on behalf of "William Stephen Edward Aloyle, of Buskin Street, Christchurch, to the House of Representatives by Air R. AI. AlacfarJane (Government, Christchurch South). The accident occurred before the passing of the Workers’ Compensation Act. In the petition, Moyle said lie lost his right foot. He was provided with an artificial foot, and continued as a storeman. After being recommended for promotion, he was transferred in 1927 to a signal box, which was unsuitable work and meant extra strain on bis left log. This had the effect of developing ostoo arthritis in his left hip joint. In 1933 ho was transferred to a goods shod, and was again recommended for promotion, but his disablement was getting worse, and he had to resign from the service in 1941. Ho claimed that through the accident he was prevented from getting promotion which, in loss in wages would exceed £SOO, and in superannuation £1 a week.
