R.A.F. ATTACKS TARGETS. MINES IN ENEMY WATERS. SWEEP MADE BY SPITFIRES (N.Z. Press Association—Copyright.) (Rec. 11.30 a.m.) LONDON, June 27. The Royal Air Force last night attacked targets in North-west and Western Germany and laid mines in enemy w'aters. One bomber is missing. • Royal Air Force fighters crossed the Channel this evening in the direction of France.

Three enemy fighters (two Messerslimitt 109’s and one Focke Wulf 190) were destroyed by Spitfires without loss in a sweep over Northern France to-day.
West of St. Omer a Canadian wing spotted 30 Focke Wulfs coming head on. They tried to engage them and the Germans tried to evade action, but 'the Spitfires came up with some. Otherenemy fighters wer.e also met in the St. Omer area.
Beaufighters escorted by Spitfires today attacked south-bound enemy shipping off the Dutch coast. Throe escort vessels wore probably damaged and one supply ship possibly damaged. A Beau tighter observer said there was heavy flak aiul accurate observation w’as difficult, but dense smoke was seen pouring from two armed escorts. A Bonufiglitor pilot who reported he had hit the superstructure of an escort vessel, said large chunks of wreckngo flow up. Another pilot stated he raked two merchantmen with cannonfire, then attacked again with guns from 100 feet
The Spitfires were reported to have hit every enemy tighter seen near the convoy. It is officially stated that our fighters destroyed two and severely damaged others. Another enemy plane was destroyed off the south-east coast of England in the morning. One of our aircraft is missing.
