PIPING, DRUMMING AND DANCING. RESULTS OF THE CONTEST^ There w r ere large entries in all tho events in the Highland dancing contest held by the Ashburton County Scottish Society • Pipe Band in tho Orange Hall on Saturday. Performances were of a very high standard, and the judge • (Mrs? O. Vial) had a hard task; placing the contestants. Pipe Major D. Wilson played for the dancing. In the evening a piping and drumming contest was held and hero again competition was keen. Mr C. Young judged the drumming and Mr D. Hay the piping. Items were given by Misses B. Glen, S. Robinson and N. Edgar. Results were:— Dancing. Seaun Triubhais, 1C and under— Daphne Hands 1, Adelc Good and Dawn Rogers (equal) 2, Ruth Hansen 3. i Irish Jig, 10 and under—Molly Harrison 1, Daphne Hands 2, Dawn Rogers and Shirley Robinson (equal) 3. Sailor’s Hornpipe, 10 and under— Dawn Rogers 1, Margaret Kerr and Adelo Good (equal) 2, Daphne Hands 3. Highland Fling, 12 and under — Daphne Grice 1, Nancy Edgar 2, Margaret Kerr and Roma Hume (equal) 3. Sword Dance, under 15—Molly Harrison 1, Roma Hume 2, Daphne Grice 3. Irish Jig, 11 and under 15—Roma Hume 1, Nancy Edgar 2, Daphne Grice 3. Seaun Triubhais open—Nancy Edgar 1, Billie Jackson 2, Molly Harrison 3.
