FIFTY YEARS SYNE, (From the “Guardian,” Apl. 17, 1893). Ashburton -School Committee—-The monthly meeting of the Ashburton District School was held on* Friday evening. The headmaster’s report showed .a total on the-roll of 54G-schol-ars, with an average attendance of 490—strict average 454. T-he question of a new footpath to the front porch wap. left over for the new committee to deal with. It was decided to ask the Education Board’s permission to remove some more trees -from the school grounds. TWENTY-FIVE YEARS ACO. (From the “Guardian,” Apl. 17, 19.18). Gun Club Proposed—A meeting called last, evening for the purpose of forming a gun club was attended by a small number of enthusiasts, and' no action was taken in regard to the club. Arrangements will be made, if ammunition is available, to hold a few hare drives during the season for patriotic purposes.
