HEAVY FINE IMPOSED.
(P.A.) * WELLINGTON, This Hay. A line of '£2s was imposed by Mr Colliding S.M., on Nicholas Hirstich, who was charged last week with being in possession of 1740 uncustomed American cigarettes. The case had been adjourned to -enable Hirstich to appear, and he offered the same explanation, as in the original statement- to the police, that the cigarettes had been left with him by some Americans for safe keeping.
