THE EGYPTIAN FRONT.
ACTIVITY BY PATROLS. ENEMY STRONGPOINT RAIDED, (Rec. 10 a.m.) LONDON, October 7. Headquarters in the Middle East reports that patrols on both sides have been active. An enemy strongpoint was raided and its garrison destroyed on Monday night. There was nothing to report from the land forces yesterday, but enemy transport vehicle camps were attacked from the air.—British Official Wireless.
'Shipping and port facilities at Tobruk and at Benghazi. were bombed on Monday night. In an attack on the enemy seaplane base at Bomba one enemy aircraft Avas destroyed and three others were damaged. Hits Avere scored on an enemy convoy Avhich Avas attacked south-west of Crete. At'least one of the enemy escorting aircraft Avere shot dcAvn, and tAVo others Avere seen* on fire and losing height. Attacks Avere made on El Daba and on enemy transport A’ehicles and camps behind the battle area yesterday, many fires being started. From all these operations four Allied aircraft have not returned.
