AIR RAID ON CERAM.

I AUSTRALIAN BOMBERS ACTIVE. SYDNEY. October 7. After 11 days of purely reconnaissance activity, Australian Hudson bombers made a daylight raid on Boela. the former Dutch oilfield on the northeastern coast of Ceram Island, on the Moluccas, west of Dutch New Guinea. Boela is mentioned for the first time in to-day’s communique from General MacArthur’s headquarters. The oil tanks there, destroyed by the Dutch after Japan entered the war, but presumably now repaired by the enemy, were the target. Near-misses wore scored from a low level, and it is believed that some tanks were damaged.
