ARMED FORCES BOARD.
SITTING HELD AT ASHBURTON. RESULTS OF APPEALS DECIDED. The No. 10A Armed Forces Appeal Board sat at the Ashburton Courthouse to-day, to hear appeals for and by reservists against service with the forces). The board comprised Messrs K. Mackenzie (chairman), H. Badkarn and S. Osborne, with R. S. Gillies as secretary and Crown representative. Results of .appeals decided up to the time the “Guardian” went to press were:
George Geddes Henderson Todd, hairdresser, Methven, public interest and undue hardship.—Dismissed, the reservist not to he called before January 1, 1943. Hugliie Gordon Tipler, driver, Rakaia, undue hardship.—Dismissed.
David McCosker for Joseph Patrick McCosker, farm hand, AshburtonPresent leave to be terminated. ■ / Teltau Knitwear for Bert Hetherington, presser, Ashburton, undue hardship.—Adjourned sine die. Teltau Knitwear for Keith Hunter Reside, machine mechanic, Ashburton, public interest and undue hardship.— Adjourned till March 31, 1943, every effort to he made to secure a substitute in the meantime. Burnett’s Motors for John Donald Kenny, lorry driver, Ashburton, public interest and undue hardship.—Adjourned ~sine die, to he reviewed on Marsh 31, 1943. W. H. Swaine for Alfred Norman Swaine, farm hand, Chertsey, public interest—Adjourned sin# die, the reservist to join the Home Guard. J. M. Alcock, moulder, Wingatui, public interest and undue hardship.— Dismissed.
