CROSS-CHANNEL GUNS.
HEAVY NIGHT -BOMBARDMENTS. ' \ LONDON, Oct. 5. There was a heavy cross-Channel bombardment to-night, when heavy guns on each side of the Strait of Dover opened fire. The British longrange guns opened fire soon after nightfall, and after a short time tire Gefman batteries at Calais and Cap Gris Nez replied. The shelling was fierce on both sides and lit up the sky for, miles.
