FOUR OBJECTORS.

GAOL AND DETENTION. - (P.A.) DUNEDIN, Jan. 23. A sentence of one month’s imprisonment with hard labour was imposed on each of four young men, all conscientious objectors, who appeared before Mr H. W. Bundle, S.M.. and pleaded guilty to having failed to report after having been called for military service. The Magistrate also ordered that the accused, at the conclusion of the term of imprisonment, be detained in a defaulters’ camp for the duration. The accused were Richard Pollock, aged 27, Cyril David Patrick and Donald Wilson Gordon, each aged 25, and John Archibald Baxter, aged 32. Their appeals against service on conscientious grounds had been dismissed.
