YEARLING SALES.

TOP PRICE 1050 GUINEAS, WELLINGTON, January 23. The 16th annual sale of thoroughbred yearlings was concluded at Trentham to-day. As generally anticipated, the half-brother by Bulandsbar to Defaulter topped the market, his price, 1050 guineas, being 150 guineas above that, secured for the Foxbridgo-Astnrth colt on the first day. The colt was knocked down to Wright, Stephenson and Company, acting for Mr W. S. Gooseman.

The next highest figure was 550 guineas for a half-brother by Rulandsliar to the Welcome Stake winner, Grilse. 'Th(‘ purchaser was Dr. Nigel Smith, of Sydney, and the colt is to be sent to Australia. A black colt by Defoe from the English mare Falcon, a half-sister to Elian -Gowan, attracted attention, and bidding for him opened at 200 guineas, and he appeared to be a very reasonable purchase at 525 guineas.
