COMMUNITY SING.

MILITARY PARADE TO BE HELD. The community sing which will be held on Wednesday evening to raise funds to he invested in National Savings Bonds for the Ashburton Silver Band promises to be one of the most attractive of this series of entertainment. Thei committee of the Savage Club, which has sponsored these sings, has been fortunate in obtaining tho services of “Redhead,” the well-known radio performer and impersonator, who has been giving programmes at 4ZB, and is one cf the brightest entertainers on. ZB stations throughout New Zealand. His personations of such people as' Bing Crosby, Maurice Chevalier and John Charles Thomas have won high praise throughout New Zealand. “Redhead” will appear twice on Wednesday night. Another feature will be a parade of Territorials, led by a wellknown hand from a military camp in Canterbury. The parade will start at 7.30 p.m. from Moore Street, and will proceed to the Radiant Hall. Those who aro : prepared to donate goods for auction are requested to leave them at Todds’ Drapery or Mr A. O. Wilson’s, Burnett Street. The goods could also ho left at the hall ou the night of the sing. These community sings have a double value, as they help the Government in the National Savings Scheme, and the Ashburton Silver Band will eventually receive the money. It anticipated that there will he a good response on Wednesday night.
