DISCOVERY OF MISSING AIRMAN.
OFFER BY MR J. R. McKENZiE. CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. An offer of £.3000 for the discovery alive of either of two men of the Royal New Zealand Air Force who were reported missing on January 21 was made last evening by Mr J. R. McKenzie, father of one of the airmen, Leading Aircraftman Donald Hugh McKenzie. Mr McKenzie has also offered alternatively £IOOO for the discovery of the wreck of the aeroplane, which was reported overdue on a training flight. The other occupant of the aircraft was Leading Aircraftman Jack Trevor Villers, of Stratford. Leading Aircraftman McKenzie, who was 20 years of age, had just gained his pilot’s wings, and was due to go on leave at the end of the month. He was educated at Thparu Boys’ High School, where he was head prefect, and was a member of the first fifteen. A keen skier, life was a member of the Tasman Ski Club, and won several competitions at Mount Cook. He volunteered for the Air Force six months ago, and after passing through a North Island elementary flying training school, completed his training at South Island stations.
