ENTERTAINMENTS.

ST. JAMES THEATRE. Chapter 8 of “The Drums of Fu Manchu,” an exciting drama “Fugitive from Justice” and a grand comedy romance, “Remember the Night,” starring Barbara Stanwyck and Fred MacMurray will be presented finally tonight. Marked by another sterling performance on the part of Spencer Tracy, who again demonstrates the fact that he is Hollywood’s leading actor, “Edison the Man” opens at the matinee tomorrow. As Thomas Edison, Tracy has a role that fits him like a glove. This is becoming a trite but true description of Tracy’s screen work, for it is difficult to remember a role that Tracy hasn’t made fit him whether it is the kindly Father Flanagan in "Boys Town,” or Manuel in “Captains Courageous.’ Tracy gives Edison a sincere and deep understanding that brings out the real greatness, the down-to-earth humanness and the sparkling sense of humour of the celebrated American inventor. The story itself is so filled with real drama that it is almost unbelievable that all of it actually could have happened in the life of one man. Truth, it is proved again, is really much stranger than fiction. Supporting Tracy is a cast of fine performers, with outstanding portrayals turned on by Rita Johnson, who certainly will go places after this one, Lynne Overman, Charles Coburn, Gene Lockhart, Henry Travers, Felix Bress:art and dozens, of others.
