WAR PRODUCTION.
ORGANISATION IN AMERICA. ALLEGATION OF PROFITEERING. LONDON. Jan. 21. It is announced in Washington that the United States Office of Production Management is to be abolished and control is to go to Mr Donald Nelson, chairman of the Wav Production Board. Mr Nelson said that one of the aims of the board would he to convert industry to war production. Increasing and excessive profiteering by defence contractors in: the United States is alleged in a sti ongL worded report by the Congressional Naval Affairs Committees to the House of Representatives. The report states that the profits of naval contractors averaged more than 6 per cent, for completed contracts, while thov averaged more than S pel cent, for uncompleted contracts, which indicated that profits had increased with increasing defence. Therefore the report recommended strict measures to eliminate profiteers. A new drive for aluminium production in America lias been announced and magnesium production is to no increased five-fold,
