ARREST OF POLICE.
SUBVERSIVE ACTIVITIES CAPE TOWN, Jan. 21. Colonel Baston, the Police Commissioner, in an official statement, said that tlie arrests of 400 policemen had revealed that there was ample evidence that the detained men were members of the storm troop division of the Os^ewabrandwag. The arrests followed a swoop by volunteer brigades on scores of Transvaal police stations. Dangerous weapons were seized, including bombs. The arrested men included a large number of young men who might be carried away or misled. They could, not be trusted to carry out the efficient protection of the public or the maintenance of law and order.
