FOOD PLENTIFUL.
ASHBURTON PRISONER OF WAR The following are extracts from a letter received by Mrs Murray of Alford Forest Road, from her son Jack, who is a prisoner of war in Camp VIIIB in Germany. The letter, which was sent by air mail, was written on July 19, and bears the date stamp of August 15, having apparently been held up by censorship, arriving in Ashburton yesterday. “Fine summer weather continues here ,and I am feeling first rate. We are having quite an interesting time, as the entertainment line is well catered for; there are concerts of some kind every night and good shows, too. I am in the choir for the Sunday services and al also one of the lay preachers. Time passes quickly and profitably. We are all nicely sun-tanned as the result of a hot summer here following our long spell in the tropics. Food is ample just now through the aid of plentiful Red Cross parcels. I am still awaiting news of you all, hut I suppose I will have to wait a month or two yet.”
