before vice-regal VISIT HANDING OYER OF COLOURS A ceremony unique in Ashburton will take place outside the mam entrance to the Municipal Chambers at five minutes to 10 o’clock on Wednesday morning a few minutes before the arrival of the Governor-General (Sir Cyri Newall), when the ceremony of handing over the Colours to the Coloui Party which will be associated with the Guard of Honour will be performed. The Guard of Honour and (Colour Party have never previously been paraded for a vice-regal reception in Ashburton. The Colours will be kept m the Council strongrom oyer night and will be handed over by an official oi the Council. The Ashburton Silver Band will take part in this ceremony, Which will last about seven or eigiw minutes. The Colour Party will then march the Colours to their position between the two sections of the Guard of Honour. After the reception there will bo another ceremony, this time the Marching Off of the Colours, but the Band will be in attendance at the Domain at that time, and the ceremony will he carried out without music. Sixty troops from Burnham Military Camp will form part of the Guard of Honour. They will arrive at 0 a.m. and will bo given refreshments in the Masonic Hall. The remainder oi the Guard of Honour will comprise Territorials from Ashburton.
