RED CROSS SOCIETY.

WAKANUI SUB-BRANCH. The monthly meeting of the Wakanui sub-branch of the Red Cross Society was presided over by Mrs F. Butteriek (president). A motion of sympathy with Mrs H. D. Butterick in her bereavement was carried in silence. The- president thanked members who had helped with the packing of Christmas parcels for soldiers and had given a donation for the postage . Gifts of jam, pickles and eggs for military hospitals were handed in. Further contributions toward the clothes drive were received. Gifts handed in for the Soldiers’ Comfort Fund were: 7 pullovers, 3 scarves, 3 pairs socks, 1 pair mittens, and soap. It was decided to give 10s toward the expenses of the V.A.D. room in Ashburton.

The treasurer reported a credit balance.

The hostesses were Mrs Hendrie and Mrs T, A. D. Wilson.
