HOCKEY.
THE LOWCLIFFE CLUB. Tho Lowoliffe Ladies’ Hockey Club hold its annual danco in tho school on Saturday evening. Mr Bishop (president of tho Ashburton Hockey Association) presented to the team the cup it Will hold for six months as it tied with Imwald in the competition. He also presented a cup to schoolgirls who won tho schools’ six-a-sido at Ashburton. Mr Bishop congratulated the teams on their successes and praised the interest and standard of hockey in the district. , ~ Winners of novelty dances were: Mrs H. Smyth and'-Mr H. Price, Mr and Mrs V. Peterson (Ashburton). Miss A. Dutton and T. Beatty. Music was siipplied by Dabourn’s Orchestra and Mr W. Gibbs was M.lk During the afternoon a match was played between the women’s hockey team and the younp; men of the district, resulting in a draw. This marked the close of the hockey season.
