TIRED OF USELESS WARFARE. SACRIFICES AND MARtiS/HlFg. (United Press Association—Copyright.) (Rec. 1.25 p.m.) LONDON, Oct. 20. Many letters from Italy bitterly complaining of conditions there,oven criticising the (Government, are passing the censors, reports the correspondent ol the “Daily Mail” on the Itaj/inn irontier. One letter from a Royal personage in Rome states ‘•'ordinary necessities (ire difficult to obtain oven at oxorbitaut prices. Wo never thought it possible that an industrious, freedomloving country could bo reduced to this lamentable condition.” . Another letter stated: “Everybody is sick and tired of the useless sacrifices and hardships. E&eept tor War industries business has been brought to a standstill and ruin faces everybody. An article in the “Regime Fascista said: “It is useless to try to hide the fact that this War is not popular, like the last Avar ivheti a Wave of nationalism existed because there Was an urge then for reclaiming the Italian-speaking district held by ot.Vr countries. Now We fight in distant regions, for abstract economic, geographical and political reasons, against acßersaries unknown to Italians.”
