THE WEATHER.
FALL IN BAROMETER. A sharp fall in the reading of the barometer, compared with the readings of the last two weeks, was recorded this morning, the instruments standing at 29.16 inches, indicating a sharp change in the conditions. Northerly to north-westerly winds blew to-day, and the temperature was again high. The highest reading of the thermometer yesterday- was 64.2 degrees and the lowest reading in the night was 46.8 degrees. TO-DAY’S FORECAST. (P.A.j WELLINGTON, This Day. The forecast for the east coast of the South Island from Blenheim to Oamaru is as follows: — Winds from westerly quarter, freshening at times and later turning more southerly. A few passing showers but mainly fair and cooler. Further outlook: Cold southerly weather.
