THE ASHBURTON COMPETITIONS The Ashburton > Cricket Association opened its season on Saturday in sunny weather, with a cool southerly breeze blowing. There aye four teams in the senior grade and four in * the junior. Scoring in the senior grade was for the most part not very high, a lack of practice being probably responsible. On the other hand, some very fine bowling averages were recorded. Results Avere:—-

SENIOR GRADE. KIA ORA v. ASHBURTON. A win for Ashburton on the first innings was gained in the match against Kia Ora. The highest score was PSaunders’s 21. In the bowling the best average was that of S. Kerr, who took seven wickets for 13 runs in the first innings of Kia Ora.
