ENTERTAINMENTS.

ST. JAMES THEATRE. The glorious story of the North-West Mounted’s magnificent fight against thousands of rebellious half-breeds to keep Canada from being split asunder is told in Cecil B. DeMille”s new production for Paramount, “North-West Mounted Police,” which opened at the matinee to - day. Gary Cooper is starred in one of his greatest roles as a Texas Ranger on a mission to Canada, and lovely Madeline Carroll, starred as a gallant nurse. The picture unfolds a stirring narrative. Not one to stop with two big names, enough for any picture in view of their star magnitude, De. Mille has assembled such starring players as Paulette Goddard, Preston Foster, Robert Preston, Akim Tamiroff, Lynne Overman, George Bancroft, Lon Chaney Jun. and Walter Hampden, to fill important roles. Moreover, he has filmed the picture entirely in Technicolour. With such a cast under his guidance, DeMille chose a story of epic proportion, too. It is a story which packs thrills and romance and has its basis in historical fact.
