' NO GENERAL OCCUPATION. RUSSIAN STRENGTH REALISED. (Rec. 10.0 a.m.) ZURICH, Sept. 16. The German newspaper “Franfurter Zeitung” editorially says that the German High Command has no intention of continuing the advance into the vast, seemingly endless Russian territory in order to occupy eyery village and city, but it must continue operations for the necessary purpose of defeating the Red Army to such an extent that any threat from the Russians is impossible. This aim has already been partially- reached, but further hard fighting and sacrifices are unavoidable owing to the enormous masses of war material and soldiers Russia Is : able to bring to the front line. V DIFFICULTIES FACE INVADERS 30,000 DEAD NEAR KIEV (Rec. 10.10 a.m.) ) MOSCOW, Sept. 16. The Tass News Agency states that 30,000 Germans have so far died in the approaches to Kiev. The Germans have now dug in in open country. The autumn rains are already falling and the nights are becoming increasingly cold. The landscape is completely altered. There are Fascist graves everywhere, the fields are devastated and the forests strewn with bodies. HOSTAGES TO BE SHOT. NAZI REPRISALS IN BELGIUM. ATTACKS ON GERMAN SOLDIERS. (Roc. 10.10.) LONDON, Sept, 16. A Brussels- message says that the military governor of Northern France and Belgium has ordered five Communist hostages to be shot as a reprisal, for attempts to kill 'German soldiers.
