MINIATURE RIFLES.
ANNUAL MEETING AT. MAYFIELD. The annual meeting of the Mayfield Miniature Rifle Cluh was held on Saturday evening, when the president (Mr N. R. Morrow)' presided over an excellent attendance. The report showed a very successful season. The thanks of the Club were due to Mr and Mrs N. B. Morrow for their donations of cups, also to Mr N. S. Murdoch for allowing the use of a portion of his land for an outdoor range, and for his assistance in preparing it. Eleven out-of-door shoots and eight indoor shoots had been held and friendly matches were fired against the Staveley Club and Staveley Home Guards, both matches resulting in a win for the Staveley Club. The sympathy of members was extended to Mr B. McKay in his long confinement in hospital after a serious accident. The winners of the club competitions were: Club championship, Mr J. S. Shimmin; most improved shot, Mr W. Cripps; most bulls, Mr J. S. Shimmin. The election of officers resulted:— Patron, Mr N. S. Murdoch; president, Mr N. B. Morrow; vice-presidents, Messrs B. McKay, D. Clement and J. S. Shimmin: secretary, Mr A. R. Douglas; treasurer, Mr D. K. Dellow; committee, Messrs W. J. Robertson, L. A, Whiting, G. N. Harrison, W. Turner, J. Sewell, W. Cripps, H. McKenzie, J. S. Shimmin, N. S. Murdoch, J. Winchester; publicity, Mr R. W. Oakley; auditor, Mr G. Kay; referee Mr W. Turner; range officer and armourer, Mr J. S. Shimmin; handicappers, Messrs N. B. Morrow and N. S. Murdoch.
The following were the best targets for the shoot which followed the meeting: J. S. Shimmin 75, S. Shimmin jnr. 75, W. Turner 75, O. J. McDougall 75, J. Sewell 73, G. Robertson 73, D. Dellow 73, W. J. Robertson 72, G. Kay 72, N. B. Morrow 72, T. Corbett 71, W. Cripps 70, W. K. Dellow 70, L. A. Whiting 70.
