MILD TEMPERATURE.
THE BAROMETER FALLS. A mild temperature was experienced in Ashburton to-day following a light ground frost of 5.4 degrees and a screen frost of 0.2 degrees last night. Conditions were dull. The maximum and minimum temperatures yesterday 50.8 and 31.8 degrees respectively compared with 44 and 27.8 degrees for the previous day. The barometer registered 29.78 inches this morning, having fallen from 29.93 inches yesterday. TO-DAY’S FORECAST (P.A.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The forecast for the east coast of £ho Sobth Island from Blenheim to Oamaru is as follows: — ■% Moderate to strong north-westerly winds. Rain in the Alps, extending at times to the foothills. Weather otherwise fair, with mild temperatures. Further outlook: Continuing fair on the plains.
