LABOUR FOR FARMS.
NO iMPftESSMENt IN MEANTIME, (P.A.) AUCKLAND, August 4. Advice that the National Council is not taking steps in the meantime to deal with the. question .of impressing farm labour was received at a meeting by the Auckland Council of Primary Production to-day. “There is an enormous amount of male labour working in places where it is not necessary. Female labour also is not being used in the right places,” said Colonel N. P. Adams. The chairman (Mr R. C. Clark): Where is it P .
“In corset factories for one thing,’/ Replied Colonel Adams. He added that women capable of making corsets were capable of doing more essential work, for Instance, in uniform factories. He said the only way to get farffi jabbitr was by action. Dairy factories were not going to appeal for any more single men. Girls could do good work' in these factories if allowed. In a few weeks farm labour would be wanted urgently. The meeting decided to reply to the National Council stating that the question was so important that the Auckland council regretted the delay in taking it up.
