BIG CONVOY ARRIVES.
: CANADIAN TROOPS IN BRITAIN. j AVAR MATERIALS CARRIED. . (United Press Association —Copyright.) -• • " LONDON, August 1. v. One of the largest convoys to cross the Atlantic brought the 3rd Canadian , Division to Britain. Not a ship was ' ’lostj and in addition to the troops, the ; sconvoy brought nurses and doctors, ( United States technicians, airmen, and ; 250 lumberjacks from Nova Scotia. The doctors and nurses are from Canada and the United States. They will' be engaged in hospital work in : Britain. Some of the airmen are Americans, who will build up the famous ■ American Eagle Squadron. With the convoy was a rich cargo of ammunition, war material, and -looa for the people of Britain. A member of the crew of one ship said .that, the only excitement on the .*/. trip was when one of the escorting J warships raced round the convoy, dropping depth-charges. He described J: the trip as a thrilling experience. ' Tlie Royal Canadian Navy shared in the’ escort of the convoy. The Secretary of State for War (Captain D. Mafgesson), in welcoming the troops, said that three infantry divisions, an armoured division, and reinforcements all equipped at Canada’s expense, would bo in Britain he lore V/ the year was over.
