COMPULSION WANTED.
EMERGENCY SCHEME RECRUITS. (P'.A.) GISBORNE, August 2. A decision to make representations to the Government urging, that compulsory powers be provided for recruitment for the Emergency Precautions Service was reached unanimously at a meeting of the Gisborne executive of the organisation. It was pointed out that key men for essential services were tied up with the Home Guard and that even if they were released there was no means by which they could bo compelled to serve in the capacity for which their training and experience best fitted them.
