AT the request of the Government to save supplies of newsprint ana dollar exchange, all newspapers in New Zealand have agreed to reduce the size of their newspapers as from June 2nd. This further reduction in size of papers means that there will be less space available for advertisers and in order to compensate for the loss of revenue the Price Tribunal have authorised an increase in the Rates for Advertisements. From July 1, 1941, rates for Casual Advertising in “The Ashburton Guardian” will be as follows: CLASSIFIED, CASH ADS. WANT EDS, SITUATIONS, FOR SALE, LOST AND FOUND, TO LETT, ETC. Advertisements under the headings of Situations Vacant and Wanted, For Sale, To Let, Wanted, Lost uuu Found, Farm Machinery, Cars ana Motor Cycles:— One Shilling Extra for Booking. * ANNOUNCEMENTS. Birth, Marriage and Death Notices—3/per insertion. Funeral Notices—4/- per insertion. In Memoriam Notices—3/-.per insertion ; if verses added, 6d each line. Bereavement Notices—3/- per insertion. Engagement Notices—s/- per-insertion. (In order to guard against imposition, all such Announcements must be authenticated to ensure their insertion), . GENERAL ADVERTISING. ' Amusements, Meetings, Publio Notices, Auction Sales, Tenders, etc., 5/- per inch \ IMPORTANT TO ADVERTISERS. ADVERTISERS are asked to have . their Notices in this Office as early as' possible each morning. The insertion, of those arriving later than 1.30 131 (except Death and Funeral Notices) cannot be guaranteed that day. DEATH and FUNERAL NOTICES will be inserted the same day if received not later than 2 p.m. Advertisers in the Country can remit payment by Money Order or Postage Stamps; Advertisers are informed that letters addressed to a nom. de plume or initials, care of any Post Office, will NOT be delivered by the Postal Department. For tlie convenience of advertisers replies to advertisements may be sene to the “Guardian” Office, but the Proprietors do not accept any responsibility ill this respect.

While every care is exercised in regard to the insertion and classification of advertisements, the Proprietors do not 'hold themselves responsible for errors or non-insertion through accident or from other causes, and the Proprietors reserve to themselves the right of omitting advertisements that they may deem objectionable, even though such advertisements may have been received and paid for in the usual course of business. We cannot be held responsible for errors in Advertisements transmitted by telephone. * CONTRACT ADVTS.
