FRUIT AND PRODUCE. THE ASHBURTON MARKET. ' Prices at the fruit and produce market at Ashburton on Friday were as follow: Cabbages—6d to 9d. Chaff—4s 6d and 5s a sack. Potatoes— per lb, 5s and 5s 6d per sugar-bag. Wheat—lßs, 20s to 22s a sack. Onions—-2ilb or 7/6 sugar-bag. Marrows—ls to Is 6d each. Honey—9d to Is lb. Apples—6s 6d to 11s 6d a case. Swedes—Local 2g per sugar-bag, Southland 3s 6d. Carrots—3s 6d per sugar-hag. Cauliflowers—ls to Is 6d each. GRAIN AND PRODUCE THE CHRISTCHURCH MARKET CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. An increment, of a halfpenny went on to the price of wheat yesterday. The final increment, another of a halfpenny, will go on next month. Little wheat is now left to deal with. The Kaimiro this week lifted 5500 sacks of potatoes for the North Island, and .another boat is due to load at Timaru on Monday. The Timaijp boat wfil probably take nsore than 5500 sacks.’The total shipments to the north in about four weeks will by the end

of next week have been more than 50,000 sacks, and this has had the effect of completely eliminating any inquiries on this market. The official report of the Grain and Produce Merchants’ Association yesterday named £8 10s for Dakotas and whites, and £9 10s for Sutton’s as the current prices, but these figures are probably nominal, as no business has been done. The other markets are, very quiet. The following are prices to be paid to farmers on trucks, except where otherwise stated: — _ Wheat—Tuscan 5s 10}d, Hunters 6s id, Velvet 6s 2|d, Marquis 6s 4£d (all f.0.b.). Oats—A Gartons, nominal, 3s 2d, B grade. 2s 9d, Algerians 2s 3d to 2s Cd, Duns 3s 3cT to 3s 6d for heavy, dark quality, 2s\3d to 2s 9d for light and inferior. Ryegrass—Perennial, 3s 6d to 4s, Italian 3s 6d to 4s. Cocksfoot—To Is per lb. Red Clover—To 2s per lb. Peas—Partridge, to 6s 3d. Lupins—3s 6d to 4s. Potatoes—Whites and Dakotas, £8 10s a ton, Sutton’s £9 10s. Chaff—£3 10s to £3 15s a ton. Onions —£12 a ton. ‘ Linseed—£l3 ,a ton. THE SHARE MARKET.
