FIFTY YEARS SYNE. (From the “Guardian,” Aug. 2, 1891). Bishop Julius—Bishop Julius conducted services in St. Stephen’s Church on Sunday, assisted by the Rev. E. A. Scott. In the afternoon he held a confirmation for men' only, and at all three services preached. ; Trotting Club—The first annual general meeting of the members of the Ashburton Trotting Club was held at the Central Hotel on Saturday evening. There was a large attendance. Mr J. G. Rested occupied the chair. About thirty new members were elected and several gentlemen proposed for membership. Tucker (chairman), W. T. Lill, CL Reid, P. Drummond, Ri. Galbraith and the Rev, G. Miller. The lieadmaster reported that the roll number new stood at 112, and 'included 68 boys and 44 girls.
