SOCIETY FOR PROTECTION. (P.A.) WELLINGTON, July 30. Representing the four New Zealand Societies for the Protection of Women and Children, delegates assembled in Wellington are seeking the formation of a Dominion organisation which at present does not exist. Mrs John O’Shea, president of the Wellington Society, presided over the following delegates: Mrs A. Hutchison and Mrs D. Donaldson % (Auckland), Lady Statham and Mi's M. J. Forde (Wellington), Mrs Drake and Miss M. Cardale (Christchurch), Mrs H, F. Norman and Mrs H. Atkinson (Dunedin). The conference was opened by Mrs Peter Fraser, who said much of the Society’s work was the concern of the Government, hut however well intentioned a government might he it could not reach everything and everywhere. The co-operation of private people was necessary, and it was here that the Society was doing very valuable work. Members held in high regard the value of human personality and the sanctity of the home. These two things were essential to a democracy and people who ceased to respect them were no longer free and no longer sane..
