MEN’S HOCKEY.
ASHBURTON WIN TOURNAMENT. Many interesting hockey matches were seen at the Domain on Saturday when a competition was held by the Ashburton Men’s sub-As-sociation. The tournament was divided into two sections, the winners in section A being Wakanui while Ashburton were successful in section B. In the play-off between the two section winners Ashburton defeated Wakanui by 2 goals to 0. Though the game was exciting and fast Wakanui never seemed likely to come out on top. The Ashburton men L. Lees (captain), A. Reid, R, Smith, O. Moore, H. Thompson, were presented with medals after the match. Referees during the noon were Messrs C. Bishop, K. G. Fowlce. A. C. Vincent, H. Funge and O'. Mcore.
