AID FROM AMERICA.

THE OUTPUT OF AEROPLANES. VAST NEW FACTORIES BUILT. LONDON, July 18. Ir. liis interview with British journalists Mr Harry Hopkins (supervisor of the United States Lease and Lend programme) said that vast new aircraft factories wore being constructed in the United. States. Great Britain and America between them could : produce far more aeroplanes, and better aeroplanes, too, than could be produced in Germany. Those pressed and depressed people who were wondering how the war was going, could take heart because the conflict could not be lost

Mr Hopkins, answering a question, said that Mr Roosevelt had said: “The goods arc going to arrive and we are going to protect the ships carrying those goods.” Mr Hopkins v.ill stay in Britain for a week or 10 days, during which he will discuss with the American Ambassador (Mr John G. Winant) all aspects of the problems of supply to the United Kingdom and the Middle East.

In Edinburgh, Mr Hopkins was the guest of the Lord Prmost at lunch. The “Daily Mail” points out that Mr Hopkins’ attendance at a. British Cabinet meeting is without precedent, and expresses the hope that the practice will be continued as far as tho United States is concerned.
